What's special

North Pine Dam (Lake Samsonvale) is stocked by the Pine Rivers Fish Management Association Inc. The dam is stocked with Australian bass, golden perch, Mary River cod, saratoga and silver perch. In 2017/18, 80,000 Australian bass, 25,000 golden perch and 5,000 silver perch were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 507,413 Australian bass, 313,886 golden perch and 5,000 silver perch have been stocked in North Pine Dam from SIPS. The dam has also been stocked with Mary River cod from other funding sources. The dam is well known for its big Australian bass.

Location

North Pine Dam is located north of Brisbane near Joyner. Fishing from the shore is restricted to Bullocky Rest (Forgan Road, Joyner), McGavin View (Vores Road, Whiteside), Forgan Park (Forgan Road, Joyner), Forgan Cove (Forgan Road, Joyner) and Kobble Creek (Mt Samson Road, Kobble Creek) recreation areas. Fishing from a vessel requires a boating access permit from the Pine Rivers Fish Management Association Inc. Vessels are restricted to electric and paddle powered only is the designated area. There is no camping at the dam. However, accommodation is available nearby at the Murrenbong Scout Campsite Kurwonbah and surrounding suburbs. The dam has facilities at the recreation areas that include toilets, barbeques, picnic tables and playgrounds. There is a network of hiking, mountain biking and horse riding trails around the dam.
