Boondooma Dam is stocked by Boondooma Dam Fish Stocking and Management Association Inc. The dam is stocked with Australian bass, golden perch, silver perch and saratoga. In 2017/18, 82,000 Australian bass and 111,364 golden perch were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 1,425,501 Australian bass, 1,340,805 golden perch and 92,000 silver perch have been stocked in Boondooma Dam from SIPS.
Location
Boondooma Dam is located 20km north west of Proston in the South Burnett region. This dam is three and a half hours north west of Brisbane or 75km from Kingaroy. It is a popular destination for both fishing and other water sports, with no restrictions on vessel type. Accommodation is available though Lake Boondooma Caravan and Recreation Park. They offer cabins, powered and unpowered sites and a bunkhouse available for larger groups. Pets are welcomed and camp fires are permitted in some areas. The facilities at the dam include barbeques, picnic tables, toilets and playgrounds.
