Biosecurity grants fuel innovation, education and preparedness in Queensland

The first round of the Queensland Biosecurity Grants Program is now open. These grants are part of the government's effort to protect Queensland from pests and diseases, aiming to boost innovation, education, and readiness against biosecurity threats.

By supporting initiatives that promote awareness and education, these grants empower individuals and organisations with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective biosecurity management.

How to apply

Applications for the education and innovation grants are now open and all sectors and communities across Queensland are encouraged to apply.  The application closing date is 31 July 2024.

Three Innovation grants of $25,000 each are available for projects that focus on:

  • developing cutting-edge technologies for early detection and monitoring of biosecurity threats
  • research contributing to preventing and managing biosecurity risks
  • collaboration and promotion of innovations that enhance the efficiency of biosecurity measures across sectors.

Six education grants, each valued at $10,000, are available for projects that focus on:

  • educating communities and stakeholders on the importance of biosecurity
  • developing training modules to improve biosecurity literacy
  • fostering a culture of responsibility and collaboration.
