These scholarships provide 2 senior high school students the opportunity to attend the Future Experiences in Agriculture, Science and Technology (FEAST) 4-day residential program at The University of Queensland (UQ).

What we offer

The University of Queensland's (UQ) Faculty of Science is offering 2 UQ FEAST Scholarships to senior high school students.

UQ's Future Experiences in Agriculture, Science and Technology (FEAST) is a 4-day residential program, held in June–July 2025 at the UQ Gatton Campus (Queensland), to inspire students about rewarding science careers in the agriculture, animal, plant and food industries. Note: specific residential program dates to be advised.

Each scholarship is valued at $700.

Who is eligible

Students must:

  • be in years 11 or 12, or at least 16 years of age at the commencement of the UQ FEAST program in June–July 2025
  • be a prize winner or participant in the Plant Science Project Awards
  • be available and have parental permission to attend the UQ FEAST residential program in June–July 2025 at the UQ Gatton campus (during the first week of the June/July Queensland school holidays — specific residential program dates to be advised)
  • have applied by the competition closing date.

How to apply

Complete the UQ FEAST Scholarship application form by the competition closing date.

Students will be assessed on their responses to these questions:

  • In your opinion, why is agriculture important to Australia's future?
  • What do you see as a possible future role for you in the rural/agricultural science sector and why?
  • What interests you about the UQ FEAST camp?
  • What do you hope to learn from attending the UQ FEAST camp?

A signed letter of recommendation from a teacher or mentor is is encouraged to support the application (this is not mandatory).

Prize conditions

  • Scholarship covers costs for:
    • 3 nights accommodation
    • all meals throughout the program
    • all program activities and tours
  • Travel arrangements to and from the UQ FEAST residential program held at the UQ Gatton Campus (Queensland) are at the winner's expense.
  • Any specialist clothing or equipment needed to attend the residential program's events are at the winner's expense.
  • Enrolment and attendance are as per UQ FEAST guidelines.
  • Scholarship recipients must provide written feedback (and photos if possible) to the Schools Plant Science Competition Coordinator about their experience, within 1 month of returning from the UQ FEAST residential program.
  • Scholarship recipients will be notified via email in late July and publicly announced during the DAF Hermitage Schools Plant Science Competition's annual Awards Day and Ag Science Expo held in August.
  • Scholarship is not transferable or redeemable for cash.
