Fisheries stakeholder engagement

Improving engagement with our stakeholders is a key reform area of the Sustainable Fisheries Strategy.

Our aim is to build effective and productive relationships across all sectors and the broader community. We will continue working to find practical and effective ways to engage with our stakeholders about how our fisheries are managed.

Working groups

Fishery-specific working groups provide advice on:

  • operational aspects of a particular fishery
  • developing management options and harvest strategies.

The Sustainable Fisheries Expert Panel:

  • reviews key outputs from the working groups, such as harvest strategies
  • provides independent expert advice to the Minister and Fisheries Queensland on the appropriateness and feasibility of fisheries management proposals and strategies including options to improve management.

We publish the meeting communiques online so the discussions are available for all stakeholders.

Consultations

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries engagement hub allows all stakeholders to have their say.
