Species and stock monitoring

Our programs to monitor and assess key fish species in Queensland.

  • Stock assessments

Stock assessments give us a measure of the health of fish stocks by integrating our understanding of ecology, biology, environment, fishing behaviours and other drivers.

  • Species

Fish stock status, stock assessments, monitoring programs, and management for key fish stocks in Queensland.

  • Ecological risk assessments

These reports measure the impact of fishing activities on non-target species and the broader marine ecosystem.

  • Biological monitoring

We collect length, sex and age information from the harvest of both commercial and recreational sectors.

  • Fish stock status

We assess the stock status of important Queensland fish species using the national Status of Australian Fish Stocks (SAFS) classification framework.

  • Coral reef fish monitoring

The program collects biological information on 7 key coral reef fish species.
